Something new that I want to add to my blog is the Blog Roll. On the right of my blog you will notice a blog roll box that I have links to various blogs I visit frequently. Starting today I will actually make a post of new blogs that I add to my links.

Sin City AT-43 is a blog dedicated to AT-43 with battle repots, news, and articles. A very good read.

Last night we played a couple of games of AT-43. My we played Speical Mission 5 Landing. I was that attacker with my Red Blok and I played against Karmans. Red Blok was victorious in this encounter with my RPG Kollosus being the MVP unit killing off monkeys left and right.

My second game was against Therians. We played Special Mission 3 where I was getting runned down by Therains. 1 VP shy from attaining victory. Unfortunately my GenCol weakness is what did me in as my officers in both units got sniped.

Over all it was a fun night. It has been a while since I’ve played AT-43 and I really should play it more. It is really a great game with great rules that are fast and easy to learn.

Twilight is a level 1 Villian that is of Mystery origins. She is part of The Covven. She has an AP limit of 4 of can take 7 points of damage.

Stat Line
At first look Twilight’s stat line does not look to impressive. Don’t let the gun in her hand fool you especially with her Energy trait of 2. Not only that she will need to buy a Silence Gun as a resource in order for her to make use of that trait.

All her other traits are an unimpressive 3 with the exception of her Agility trait which is a 5 and also her Trump trait which gives her to the Basic Duck trump action. With only 4 AP using this ability to reduce damage is one way to keep her alive as she moves into position.

Skills
Blink 4 allows Twilight to teleport up to 4″ as a Movement action, going through walls and obstacles. You can have Twilight hide safely out of line of site behind a dumpster and teleport her out into base to base with an enemy.

Fury 1 allows her to do Strike actions in a round instead of 1.

Annoying negates the +1 bonus a model gets when charging her.

Thick Bones is a very nice skill that allows you to position Twilight on top of a very high building away from harms ways. Don’t be fooled thinking Twilight can’t do anything while she’s high above on the building you are right next to. Too far to shoot? Yes. Too far to Blink down and join the combat? Yes. Too far to fall down like Kate Beckinsale in Underworld and walk away as if nothing happened? No. Thick Bones allows Twilight to jump of a building and take no damage from falling. Something fun to try in a game round when if the opportunity allows for it. Spend 1AP to Lurk then 1 AP to teleport up to 4″ above a fight where you have enough room to fit your base in and and come in contact with 2 ore more enemies. Drop down and combine with Shadow Fangs for 2 AP. Twilight is not striking with a total of 6 (Strength 3+ Lurking Shadow Fangs +2 and the Charge condition +1) against 2 enemies or 1 enemy twice.

Special Powers
Lurk is an Agility special power that only costs 1 AP to do. This forces an opponent shooting to use their Mind trait against Twilight’s agility. While it may not seem like much use against the likes of Androida, Solar and Ace of Wraiths, the true value of this power is using it in conjunction with Shadow Fangs.

Vanish is a 2 AP agility power that allows her to suffer no damage if rolls higher than the damage suffered adding her Agility trait to the D6 roll. This also allows her a free movment of 4″ For 2 AP you get a lot when compared to the basic Duck trump action. As long as she has AP, this can keep her alive even from heavy hitts like Iron Train.

Shadow Fangs is a strength based spcial action that costs 2 AP. This power is where Twilight really shines. One a charge with lurk brings her attack up to 6. And not just 1 attack but 2 attacks. Some easy prey for this are Red Riding Hoodoo and Androida with their low damage points.

Shadow Theft is a 2″ self blasts that uses Twilight’s Agility against an enemy’s Agility. It only cost 2 AP and it pretty much disallows use of an weapon and/or device till the end of the game round. Not really a special power that get’s a lot of use.

Team Power - Shadowzone
Shadowzone gives friendly Supremes +1 to their Agility while in base to base with twilight. Nuke can benefit this the most out of all the starter set villians.

While waiting for my Pulp City starters I decided to write down some tactics that I could use in game. Some that are theory and some that are actual game play experiences. First one up is Iron Train.

Iron Train is a Level 2 Hero that is a part of the Heavy Metal team. He has an AP value of 5 and can take 18 points of damage. He is a Science based Supreme.

Stat Line
Iron Train is a melee monster with a Strength Trait of 5. This is also his Trump Trait so it gives him access to Power-Up and Throw and 1 Re-Roll per round.

Iron Train’s other Trump Trait is his Defense of 6. This gives him access to Block and my personal favorite Push Away.

Skills
Iron Train has the Armored skill which allows him to his use Defense trait against range attacks. This makes him very Resilient against ranged attacks. Tie that together with his Fortify special power and he is able to walk up into combat  while taking minimum damage from range attacks.

Barricade allows Iron Train to give other model’s that benefit from cover because of him a +2 to opposed rolls instead of the normal +1.  This will make models such as Androida and Red Riding Hoodo more survivable against range attacks.

Iron Train’s last skill is Ram 2. This allows him to add 2 on opposed rolls against structures. This is very helpful when dealing with Agendas such as Destroy That Building or Protect the HQ. If it needs to be brought down, Iron Train is your man.

Special Powers
Haunted Train is a 2″ self blast that uses Iron Trains meager Mind trait of 2 against an enemies Spirit trait. There are some villains that this would be useful again such as Gentlemen and Nuke with their low Spirit trait, but I’ve found that this is special power is best used against low defense Minion resources such as  Corrupted Cops, Hired Guns and even Sentry Bots. Iron Train can take out a bunch of them all for the cost of only 2 AP.

Street Brawler allows Iron Train to throw an object (similar to his Advance Throw and for 3 AM) but also cause the model hit to be Knocked Down if it suffers 3 or more points of Damage. If you have the AP for it you may want to Power Up this roll to make sure you do at least 3 points of damage. After the model is knocked down, the rest of your Supremes can gang up on that one model to elminate it.

Fortify gives Iron Train Immovable, Absorb 1 and Deflect 1until the end of the game round or until he moves. You may want to move first before activating this power. Absorb 1 and Deflect 1 reduces any damage Iron Train takes from close combat or range attacks by one, while Immovable allows Iron Train to not be Knocked Down. If Guerilla is in the area, you are going to want Fortify up to prevent his Raze from Knocking you down. I usually have this thing up on the first turn, just in case.

Team Power - Age of Steam
This is a once per encounter ability that allows all friendly Supremes to move 1 inche further when they use their move action. Remember to activate this first if you want all your Supremes to benefit from this.

Tomorrow’s AT-43 Monday at one of our LGS and I will be playing my Red Blok’s newest faction GenCol. This new faction allows me to take multiple’s of characters. Today I picke dup Anastasiay Tymofiyeva and painted her in a winter scheme suitable for the new Operation Frostbite expansion.

Last night I played my first 2 games of 5th Edition. There’s one phrase said by a friend of mine the pretty much summed up what I was doing wrong. “Stop playing like you got a pair and play to win.”

I’m still very new to 40k and I’ve learned that this game is not as aggressive as Warmachine/Hordes. While the new edition is more cinematic, it’s still restraining in some aspects.  For example assaulting. I’m not free to assault with my first model at an angle where I still get into base to base contact with the enemy but avoid difficult terrain. Be the letter of the rule I must go the shortest route possible. Something very limiting.

I do love the fact they got rid of targeting priority so I’m free to shoot whoever I want, and I do love the new Line of Sight rules. One thing I’m not to familiar with is the massive ranges on some weapons. Something I still have to get used to.

Its still a clunky system that I need to get used to with so many special rules for each type of unit and how attacks are resolved against them but I as I play more and more I’m sure I’ll remember them.

With my Space Marine army almost complete (Just a scout squad and combat squad left to paint), I decided to start on my Orks. So far I have purchased an Ork Battleforce and an Bozy box.  I have already assembled a unit of 11 Boz  and have primed them. The cool part about the Ork Boyz box is that even though it says 10 models it has enough parts to make 11 models.

So where’s what I have to do.

• 2 Units of Boyz
• 3 Bikes
• 1 Trukk

The Trukk has a ton of pieces and will take some time to build. I hope to finish building all my Boyz and bikes this week.

My Space Marine army is ready for this Friday’s Warhammer 40K 5th Edition game. Just have to read up more on the rules.

Picked up a Land Raider today. Still have some more work to do on it.

Calgar and Honor Guard completed. Just have to paint up 5 Tactical Marines and 5 Scouts and I’m complete for now.

I just realized in this past week I’ve painted 20 Tactical Space Marines, a Rhino and Calgar and his Honor Guard. 36 models. Not bad for a week.

Finally finished these guys. I forgot to put the pack backs back on before I took a picture of them.

Primed him up this morning and worked on him this afternoon. I present to you Marneus Calgar.

Wow this year I really got the GW bug. I guess with 5th edition coming out it’s a good year to get started up again. Let’s recap.

• February 2008 - Purchased a Tau Mega Force
• April 2008 - Most of the Tau Mega Force is completed along with some other Tau models
• May 2008 - Picked up Daemons
• June 2008 - Completed painting Daemons and then purchased Imperial Sector terrain set and a Space Marine Battleforce
• July 2008 - Purchased 2 units of snap fit Space Marines and completed 90% of the Space Marine Battleforce I purchased last month. All that’s left to paint are the Space Marine Scouts. Also purchased a box of Ork Bozy. 22 bucks for 10 seems like a good deal to me.
• Today - Purchased an Ork Mega Battleforce and Space Marines Marneus Calgar with Honor Guard.

Wow that’s a lot of GW in the last 5 months. All that’s left is to get 5th edition and some more terrain. When will the bug end?
